It's very difficult to know what you want to do in this life and to find your right place. A German director, writer, producer and composer Tom Tykwer was a lucky person who already knew it from his childhood. He was 11 when he shot his first film. Sometimes to continue your career to right direction is very difficult and we need somebody who will believe in us and shows us our power. That was Rosa von Praunheim (director) who encouraged Tykwer to shoot his first short film "Because" (1990). This was the first step forward for Tykwer to shoot for us already well-known and amazing film "Run Lola Run" (1998), which brought him a huge success. Since 1992 Tom had 6 award-winning films on Berlinale. "The Berlinale has always been my favorite and my home film festival, and has supported me since I began working as a filmmaker. We have a fantastic and broad history with each other. Now I can look forward to two focused and fun weeks of films with the jury"- says Tom Tykwer with regard to his jury presidency. This year Tom will host the world of cinema in his favorite country and brings us a huge motivation to do whatever we like and believe in ourselves. Good Luck Tom!
